Taylor got to see how the tip-up actually works today, and it did not take her long to figure out how much fun it is pulling in perch by hand, not to mention slob perch! We decided not to join the circus … no not that one, the one in the middle of the lake. We setup in 5 -10 ft of water off some rock structure and man it paid off in Yellow Perchy Gold! The jigging rods put the other half of our catch on the ice, but the highlight of it for me was watching Taylor chase those flags back and forth with child like joy; Tip-ups seem to have that effect on people. Something about seeing that flag flying up and sliding across the ice to see the spool or top spinning with a mystery of what has your bait in its mouth. It just makes ya feel like a kid again.
